$575M DEVELOPMENT AT EASTLAND

November 7, 2013

A $575 million expansion of Eastland Shopping Centre and development of Ringwood Town Centre has been announced by QIC Global Real Estate on October 28, 2013. The Buchan Group is the architect for the project, which will transform Eastland into one of Melbourne’s most progressive and exciting urban shopping, entertainment and leisure destinations.

Managing Director of QIC Global Real Estate, Steven Leigh, and Victorian Premier, Dr Denis Napthine, marked the commencement of the construction at a sod-turning event at Eastland on October 28, 2013.

The development will introduce David Jones, new mini-majors and approx. 150 new specialty stores to Eastland and will double the size of the existing centre to approx.127 000m². The existing Centre will be significantly enhanced to deliver a seamless retail experience.

Mr Leigh said that the creation of a world-class town square with quality retailing, contemporary al fresco dining incorporating signature restaurants, as well as generous public space for an integrated mix of activities would re-energise Ringwood’s urban centre.

A new, fully integrated Maroondah City Council library, learning and cultural centre forms a key element of the Ringwood Town Centre development, with the state-of-the-art community facility incorporating distinctive design, and innovative technology and services.
