Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas Resort

An extensive refurbishment has begun on one of Tropical North Queensland’s most acclaimed resorts.  Owner of the Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas Resort, the Fullshare Group, has announced a full guestroom refurbishment of the property and the creation of new suites with direct access to the lagoon pools, as well as redevelopment of the Mirage Country Golf Club and the resort's main buildings, pools and landscaping.  

Buchan is providing master planning, architecture, interior design and wayfinding expertise to the project. The first stages of the redevelopment are due for completion in late 2015.

Steve Molnar, General Manager for the Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas Resort, said he was confident the refurbishment would cement it "as the premier resort for those visiting Queensland".

The 294-room hotel opened in 1987, drawing both domestic and international guests with its 147 hectares of tropical gardens, two hectares of swimmable saltwater lagoons and the world-class sporting facilities of the Mirage Country Club.

The Buchan Group’s team for the redevelopment is being led by Director Brett Saville.

Duke St, East Fremantle

The Duke Street project is a mixed used development located in the heart of the fashionable George Street precinct of East Fremantle.

An existing Edwardian-style heritage building, originally used as a brush factory, will be converted into a Jazz Bar and Dance Studio, with a new glass-domed, two-storey penthouse perched atop.  To the rear of this will be two levels of boutique office space, straddling a courtyard attached to the Jazz Bar.

A collection of low-value industrial outbuildings on the remainder of the site have been demolished to make way for a contemporary three-level building containing 12 apartments.  The new building references the local architectural character and will relate to the former Brush Factory Building by using red face brick, whilst providing a contrast to the heritage building through the use of timber patterned cladding.

Construction has commenced and the project is expected to be complete in December 2016.  Managing Director Lou Cotter is leading The Buchan Group’s team.

Marco Melbourne

Marco_MelbourneThe dual towers of Marco Melbourne are taking shape on the Balston Street, Southbank site and the project is due for completion in late 2016.

The Buchan Group’s design for the 36 and 40-level residential development responds to the Southbank location, with the striking towers rising above the car park podium.  Marco Melbourne will have approximately 459 apartments in a range of configurations and each balcony has been orientated to take advantage of CBD, Botanical Gardens, Albert Park and Bay views.  Premium corner “sky” residences will have tailored inclusions and all residents will enjoy a landscaped garden and hotel-quality amenities.

Nick Nigro, Principal, Head of Delivery at the Buchan Group is leading the design and delivery of the project.
