Chadstone Place VIC

The new Chadstone Place is a contemporary expression of Chadstone’s earliest days as an open air mall.  It is a mixed use development, complementing the existing enclosed malls with new, external Main Street precincts, a mix of retail formats, a restaurant and café piazza and a refurbished enclosed mall.  The project also includes a 4-level office development of 7000 m².

The development reads as a series of buildings, each with individual uses and character.  A significant feature of the design is the meandering street front, layered with generous landscaping, sculptures, street lighting and casual seating.  A new Woolworths supermarket is a major anchor and is the first in Victoria to carry the Woolworths brand.

At the heart of the development is a pavilion-style tenancy that marks the perimeter of the piazza and the entry to the refurbished mall.  A mix of gourmet, fresh food and lifestyle tenancies lead shoppers along the mall to the refurbished Gourmet Fresh Food Hall.

The development integrates with an existing transport hub and includes a transit lounge for bus passengers.  There is also a bicycle station with space for 200 bicycles and end of trip facilities for cyclists, including showers and lockers.

Chadstone Place is the first Australian shopping centre to achieve a 5-Star Green Star Certified Rating under the Green Building Council Australia’s Shopping Centre Design Pilot rating scheme. The project was a collaborative effort between RTKL Los Angeles and The Buchan Group.  Chadstone Place is a Colonial First State Property Management development and opened in October 2008.  The office building opened early in 2009. The Buchan Group is currently working on the new West Mall at Chadstone.
