A $120M redevelopment of Chatswood Chase Sydney has added 11 000m² of new lettable space and 70 premium brands to the already strong retail offer. The staged development was designed by The Buchan Group to upgrade and update the successful North Shore shopping centre, to increase the lettable area and to improve the efficiency of the layout. An important aspect of the design was the activation
of the Victoria Avenue facade and the creation of
a new entry. Approx 9000m² of existing retail was demolished, making way for 20 000m² of new retail, much of which was constructed within the existing structure. Existing retail space was substantially reconfigured and upgraded.
The project was completed in November 2009. The centre recorded a 22% growth in sales in December 2009. The redevelopment of Chatswood Chase received the Silver Award for Sustainable Design for the Renovation or Expansion of an Existing Project at the International Council of Shopping Centre’s Asia Awards announced in Shanghai on November 3, 2011.
