This major accounting firm requested a new interior fitout when relocating their office within the Melbourne CBD. Their previous office had been designed by The Buchan Group 10 years earlier and proved both flexible and functional throughout its lifespan.
The brief called for a contemporary, energetic work environment, that simultaneously expressed the conservative character befitting a Melbourne accounting firm. The new premises comprised 1000m² on one level of 575 Bourke Street. Highly efficient space planning maximized the flexibility of the limited space and achieved the requirement for a large reception area, a 20-seat boardroom, three meeting rooms, a large breakout space for staff, a training space to suit 90 people, offices for the 20 partners, 70 workstations and utility and storage areas.
By separating the board room and staff room by an operable wall, the two spaces could form a single, large training room when required. An open plan was designed for the office, to enable interaction between project teams, and partners’ offices were mainly located adjacent to the core. This had the benefit of maximizing natural light penetration to all work areas. The palette consisted mostly of charcoal and white, with pops of blue, orange and yellow used to break up the monochromatic scheme.
Design and documentation was produced by The Buchan Group within a month and the fitout was completed within five weeks. Michelle Cavicchiolo led the Interior Design. Feedback from the client has been 100% positive.
