Buchan is pleased to announce that the Grand Central redevelopment in Toowoomba has been recognised in the International Architecture Awards organised by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design, together with The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies and Metropolitan Arts Press. The prestigious awards recognise excellent architectural projects on a global scale, considering a range of criteria relating to the design and function of the development.
The project will go on to feature in “The City and the World” exhibition held at The Chicago Athenaeum’s Contemporary Space in Athens in September and October.
Buchan’s involvement with the design of Grand Central spans over 20 years, having worked on all stages of the centre from its concept design, to master planning the current redevelopment. The design embodies sound retail planning principles, comprising of clear retail sightlines, generous shopfront heights, an easily navigable layout, and well-thought-out transport links.
We congratulate our client QIC and collaborators FJMT on this outstanding achievement.
