Reframing residential in the wake of COVID-19

There is no question that the COVID-19 pandemic has caused many of us to re-think the way we live; lockdown, remote working requirements, and a re-focus of priorities across society have all impacted how we engage with our living spaces and the wider community.

The economic effects of the pandemic have also caused a shift in the need for more affordable and social housing stock. Aligned with this is the ever-present equality debate, the decline in affordable housing and habitation proximity to the workplace, mobility, and migration and travel, all of which have increased the need for flexible living options.

In this article, we explore how the design of residential buildings will change as society and the nature of living evolves in the wake of COVID-19.
