Winner: Kings Co-op Property Council Award

The Queensland Property Council has recognised King Street, Bowen Hills (commonly known as Kings Co-op) in the 2018 Awards.

Kings Co-Op took home the Excellence in Food Retailing, Judges’ Commendation Award and was Runner-up for the Retail Property of the Year Award.

Kings Co-op is located at the site of the well known Sugar building and Dairy Industry Hall and is part of a three stage $2.9 billion 15 year regeneration project at Brisbane Showgrounds.

Designed by Buchan as a mixed and adaptive re-use development, Kings Co-op forms a significant part of the history of the Brisbane Exhibition, known locally as the ‘Ekka’, and includes the Royal Snack Bar, Sugar Pavilion and the Dairy Hall Pavilion. This agricultural and industrial exhibition space was constructed progressively during the past century.
