Buchan’s interior design incorporates space for a new co-working tenancy and provides equitable universal access. The concierge desk has back-lit acrylic cladding. The same cladding forms a dynamic backdrop to the café servery, drawing attention from across the street.
The original marble countertop to the café remains, and a similar stone creates the concierge desktop. Hexagonal marble mosaic tiles provide a new face to the café servery and splashback, and a contemporary complement to the original marble counter.
An external landscaped timber deck covers a redundant external staircase to the basement, replaced by a new internal stair. An internal ramp provides universal access to the stepped foyer from the main entry door. We removed dated timber cladding from the internal concrete columns to reveal travertine cladding. We then refurbished the columns and the original travertine floor and wall tiles.
A contemporary selection of café and corporate foyer furniture complete the effect.
