Construction began this week on Mitsui Shopping Park LalaPort Taichung ahead of a scheduled opening in 2022. Destined to be Taichung’s first full-scale regional shopping mall, the centre will provide locals with a new lifestyle offering comprising of fashion, food, convenience and entertainment.
The vibrant design showcases ‘vivid colours of life’ inspired by its local surrounds, with ‘Block C’ reflecting the greenery of the adjacent Yongquan Park to the north and ‘Block E’ conceptualizing the brick walls of the Taichung Jianguo Market to the east. A double-decked bridge will connect the two blocks, facilitating customer circulation around the centre.
Located a short walk from Taichung Train Station, the development is well-positioned to support the burgeoning population of 1 million people living within 5km of the centre and 2.2 million people located within a 30-minute drive.
Buchan is proud to have provided concept and schematic design for the façade and double-decked bridge for this transformative development for our client Mitsui Fudosan, working alongside fellow consultants FORMium (Landscaping) and Ishimoto Architectural & Engineering.
