Buchan was selected out of other participating world-class masterplanners, based on its remarkable, practical and sustainable design for the island redevelopment. The island was once a sleepy rural island with fishing villages and mangrove swamps. Later, bridges linked the island to the mainland and turned it into a port and industrial estate.
Looking at the big picture, Buchan’s masterplan for the development of Pulau Indah envisages a mixed-use development with a resort, residential apartments and a town centre with retail village and commercial offices. The resort will incorporate an 18-hole golf course with guest villas and a club house. An active water recreation park was proposed next to the resort to complement the rapid population growth on the mainland.
Buchan was the winning finalist in this international competition, however, the project did not proceed.
